Dennis and Patrick Weinert in the DR Congo, 2016.

Dennis and Patrick Weinert are independent filmmakers, photographers and authors who primarily focus on covering social and environmental issues, as well as conflicts. After emigrating from Germany in 2017, they have been based across South and Southeast Asia, most recently in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. With their Europe and Asia-based production companies Weinert Brothers GbR and Weinert Brothers Limited, they also work as TV and film producers.

Dennis and Patrick have spent more than seven years reporting from Asia and Africa and have written, directed and shot films in locations such as the Central African Republic, D.R. Congo, Pakistan, India, or Afghanistan. Their reportages and documentaries appear on German and European public broadcasters such as ARTE, DW, 3sat, ARD & ZDF.

In 2018, the publication “medium magazin” ranked Dennis and Patrick Weinert among Germany’s top 30 journalists under 30 years of age. For their reportage about the Ebola epidemic in eastern D.R. Congo, they have been awarded with the Peter Scholl-Latour Preis for conflict and crisis reporting.

When Dennis and Patrick are not working as TV correspondents, they focus on creating their personal experimental photography and film projects. The brothers have written, curated and published two volumes of documentary photo books (2015 & 2019) and have just completed directing and producing their debut essay short film Hinter unserem Horizont, which was commissioned by ZDF & 3sat and has been nominated for a Grimme Award.
